The Public Institution Mekinje Monastery was established by the decree of the Municipality of Kamnik, adopted in November 2017. The Institute formally started its activities in April 2018, and its mission is to preserve and promote the material and immaterial heritage of the Mekinje Monastery. The Institute plans, designs and markets the comprehensive offer of the monastery with its surroundings, and programmatically connects public institutions, non-governmental organisations and other organisers of educational, cultural and tourist events in the public interest. The institute, which has the knowhow and experience in the preparation and implementation of European projects in the context of various programmes, works closely with the European Project Office of the Kamnik Municipality in preparing invitations to tenders and seeking involvement in European partnerships.
